Tubing the Kettle River

About Tubing the Kettle River

Grab a tube and let the Kettle River do the driving. Tubing is one of Grand Forks’ quintessential summer activities, with several put-in and take-out points allowing you to choose a float ranging from about an hour to several hours. Please note this activity involves danger and understanding wher to get in and get out is critical to safety. Common routes include City Park to Nursery Bridge (about 1 hour) and Nursery Bridge to Atwood (about 2–3 hours).

How to get there:
There are multiple Kettle River access points. For an easy, central starting point, City Park provides access to the river and the tubing route toward Nursery Bridge. The Nursery Bridge access can be reached by road via Popoff Road, with informal parking available at the bridge end of the Waterfront Trail.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION: River conditions vary significantly through the summer. Rapids, snags and changing water levels mean proper flotation equipment and good swimming ability are recommended. Always go with someone who is knowledgeable of the river.
